The 12- Week Craftsman Program starts with the same curriculum as our six week program, then continues as students are lead through the process of designing and building their own piece of furniture, from initial sketches, design development and mock ups to the photography of the finished work.. Along the way, we delve into more complex forms of joinery, the application of commercial veneers, tool making and finishing. Time is also spent in a discussion of professional practices and the details of setting up a working shop.

Our 12 Week Craftsman Program includes the following classes: Excellence With Hand Tools, Mastering Machinery, Joinery For Furniture MakersDrawers and Doors, Advanced Forms and Processes, and Final Details.

This program is designed for the serious woodworker, including those considering a career in furnituremaking. Intensive and hands-on, this course will take you from a thorough grounding in the basics of furnituremaking and design through to advanced techniques and business practices. Because each student arrives at Rosewood with a unique skill set, we encourage the improvement of existing skills, while ensuring that challenges are paced appropriately for each individual. During final projects, periodic discussions and reviews of progress at each bench benefit the entire class, exposing students to the challenges presented in the construction of a variety of projects.

Upon completion of the 12-Week Craftsman Program, students will have gained solid experience and understanding of a wide range of fine furniture making techniques, as well as an introduction to the design of finely made contemporary furniture and a realistic view of the challenges of working professionally.
