You don't want to miss this opportunity to join one of today's top designer/makers for this introduction to applying the design process to furniture making. Regardless of their skill level, students will be encouraged to try techniques and processes that are new to them. The goal is to design and make a small but interesting table in a week. Michael will demonstrate his thought processes for developing two of his designs, one with laminated curves, the other has only straight elements.

During the week, we will discuss the nature of wood, shop drawing, wood forming, selecting adhesives and finishes, buying tools, setting up a small workshop and making key jigs. Students will learn how to efficiently sharpen and maintain chisels, planes and card scrapers as well as how to properly set up the bandsaw and planer.
This promises to be an exciting class for woodworkers of all skill levels. We hope you will be able to join us.

Tool List - the following is Michael's recomended tool list
(1) sliding bevel
(1) bench plane #5
(1) block plane
(1) adjustable sliding square
(1) chisels, set of five ¼ - 1”
(1) rectangular card scraper
(1) 10” mill bastard single cut file, Nicholson or equal, Home Depot, Home Hardware
(1) marking gage
(1) ½”or ¾”tape measure
(1) 6”ruler
(1) safety glasses, goggles, dust mask and ear plugs
(1) pad of tracing paper 14”x 17”.
(1) retractable, replaceable blade knife (small)
(50) 2H pencils (to aid in the instructors disappearing pencil problem) No golf pencils!
